"Three quotes ranged from £2,400 to £3,100 for the same Worcester combi. Went with the middle one — Gas Safe checked, did it in a day."

Look up your job
Type the service and your postcode. We pull the right price band — based on Gas Safe, NICEIC and APL registry data — for your area.
See the real range
Three bands — basic, standard, complex — so a like-for-like swap doesn't get priced like a bespoke build. Just the numbers, no fluff.

What real homeowners paid this week.
"Composite decking, 24 m² off the back of the kitchen. APL-certified, took four days. TradeCost's band was £160–£220/m² — we landed at £185."
"OZEV-aligned EV charger, tethered 7kW. Two quotes were £1,400, one was £980. Picked the £980 — NICEIC, all fine."
"Full rewire on a Victorian sandstone. Two quotes came in at £8.5k, one at £5.9k — TradeCost said £5.5–£7k was fair. Went with £5.9k. Spot on."
"Kitchen fit — supply & installation only, we sourced units separately. London prices are brutal. Best of three was £11,800, accepted that one."
"Loft conversion — dormer, ensuite. Mid-range fit. Tradesman knew the regs cold, came in 4% under the bottom of the published range."
What people ask us most.
How accurate are the prices on TradeCost.uk? +
Every price band on the site is built from three sources: trade-body registry day rates (Gas Safe, NICEIC, APL, FENSA), recent contractor quotes from our network, and anonymised real homeowner spend. Bands are tightened or widened based on the confidence of the underlying data — and we flag low confidence plainly on each page. They're typical ranges, not guarantees.
Do I have to use the quote service? +
No. Pricing data is free to anyone, no signup required. The quote-matching service is optional — we earn through that, never by ranking firms higher in the price database. You can browse the whole site without ever giving us your details.
How do you check the tradespeople you recommend? +
Every firm in our quote network is checked against the relevant trade body registry (Gas Safe, NICEIC, APL etc.) at the point of joining and re-verified annually. They must also carry public liability insurance of £2m or more, and we monitor homeowner feedback after every job.
Is my postcode shared with anyone? +
Postcode is only used to apply local pricing. We don't share or sell it. If you go on to request quotes, your phone number and postcode are shared with three local firms — and that's the only data they get unless you choose to share more.
Why are prices different across the UK? +
Three main reasons: contractor wages, material access and competition in the local market. London and the South typically pay 10–35% more than the UK average; the North East, Wales and Northern Ireland typically pay 5–15% less. We apply a multiplier for every postcode area.
